Iran Wins 7th Gold in Youth Olympic Games

TEHRAN (Dispatches) - Iran's young karate champion Navid Mohammadi has won a gold medal in Youth Olympic Games in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires.
While competing in the plus 68 kg category, Mohammadi beat Nabil Echchaibi of Morocco. The Iranian had previously defeated Enes Bulut of Turkey in the semifinals. With this gold medal, Iran's team finished the Games with 7 gold, 3 silvers and 4 bronze medals and stood 7th on the table of medals. Iran had finished 24th in the previous Youth Olympic Games in China back in 2014 with 3 gold and 3 bronze medals.
The events took place at Parque Polideportivo Roca in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This marked the debut of Karate at the Youth Olympics.
In the previous edition held in Nanjing, China, Iran came 24th with three gold and three bronze medals.
************Mohammadi defeated Moroccan Nabil Ech-Chaabi 5-0 in the final match of the boys' +68 kg.
