TEHRAN (ISNA) - Three Iranian films will be screened in international festivals in the U.S., North Korea and Bulgaria.
"Paradise” directed by Ali Atshani, was accepted for the competition section of the Ninth Williamsburg Independent Film Festival to be held in New York on September 28 and 29, 2018.

Founded in 2009, the event is among important film festivals in the US.

Starring actors and actresses from Iran, the US and Germany, such as Javad Ezzati and Mehran Rajabi, the 79-minute film is about two young theologues who are going to participate in an academic seminar about religions in Germany.

The film was shot in Germany, Spain and Iran in 2015.

"Slaughter” is the other Iranian film to be screened in an international festival. Directed by Saman Hosseinpour and Ako Zand Karimi, the short film will participate in the 14th Early Bird International Student Film Festival scheduled to take place in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia from November 1-5, 2018.

During the festival, 117 films from 42 countries will be screened. "Slaughter” narrates the story of a family who has to sell its only possession, a cow, to survive the winter. However, the son is against this decision and helps her escape, IRNA reported.

The cast includes Fereydoun Hamedi, Shabbou Soleimani, Mohammad Qobadi and Ghaffar Khaledi.

Early Bird International Student Film Festival is the biggest Bulgarian forum dedicated to support the creation of student short films. It is the only festival fully devoted to help young filmmakers to reach their audience.

The festival was created by the American foundation for Bulgaria in 2005 as a continuation of the successful initiative to support student film projects.

Two other Iranian works will also take part in this festival: "Blue Sky, Clean Earth” directed by Mahyar Mandegar and "Take a Deep Breath”, an animated movie directed by Zahra Safdari Shadlou.

"Dressage” directed by Pooya Badkoobeh, is the other Iranian representative in an international fest.

It will be screened in the Informative Screening (Feature) section of the 16th Pyongyang International Film Festival (PIFF) underway in the North Korean capital. The festival opened on September 19 and will continue until September 28.

Co-produced by Rouhollah Baradari and Samira Baradari, "Dressage” has so far been screened in a number of festivals in Germany, Australia, China, Poland and Denmark.

The film stars actors and actresses including Ali Mosafa, Shabnam Moqaddami, Houshang Tavakoli, Alireza Sanifar, Siamak Adib and Jalal Fatemi.

The movie is about a 16-year-old girl named "Golsa” who lives with her family in a small city around Tehran. She spends most of her time with her friends. One day, they decide to do something exciting which, later, entails unexpected consequences.
