France Steps Up Security Around Iran’s Embassy

TEHRAN (Dispatches) -- The French embassy in Tehran said on Sunday Paris had stepped up security at the Iranian embassy after terrorists attacked the building on Friday.
The French embassy said police took action after the attack and interrogated 12 suspects who had gathered outside the Iranian embassy building in Paris.
It said some measures have been taken with the approval of the Iranian embassy to strengthen security of the building.
On Saturday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi urged the French government to put the attackers on trial.
He said French police arrived late on the scene as terrorists attacked the embassy.
About 15 attackers, members of the anti-Iran Komala terrorist group, burned the Iranian flag in front of the embassy during the incident and broke some windows with stones. They also threw fire extinguishers and computers at the gate but did not manage to enter the premises, Fars news agency said.
"The French government should take all necessary measures to protect Iranian diplomatic missions in that country,” Qasemi said.
"Unfortunately, the French police did not arrive as expected on the scene on time, although the assailants were members of a terrorist organization,” he said.
Paris police told Reuters that officers had detained a dozen individuals outside the embassy but that they were released when the embassy said it would not seek charges against them.
"A security detail was put in place with the embassy’s full agreement,” Paris police added.
However, Qasemi said Iran has asked France to put on trial and punish the assailants, and to inform the Iranian government of the verdicts.
Tehran says France is supporting anti-Iran terrorist groups which have been classified by Europe and the US as terrorist organizations.
The attack on Iran’s embassy in Paris came after the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps fired seven missiles at the headquarters in northern Iraq of the PDKI terrorist group and killed at least 15 senior leaders and members.
