Abdevali Hurt by Unjust Exit from Asian Games

Refereeing decisions went against Iranian Greco-Roman wrestler Saeid Abdevali in the 2014 Asian Games underway in Incheon, South Korea on Tuesday.
Abdevali defeated Jihyun Jung from South Korea in the men’s Greco-Roman 71 kg Semi-final and referee Ashida Takaharu lifted his hand as a winner; however the Korean officials protested the result and Jung unbelievingly was named as the winner.
Abdevali will have to challenge for the bronze medal but he is doubt for the match with an injured finger.
Iran is now standing 5th among 15 countries taking part in the 17th Asian Games in Incheon. The country has received 14 gold, 11 silver and 10 bronze medals so far.
Some 9,500 athletes from 45 countries are competing at the Games, the world’s second-biggest multi-sport event after the summer Olympics, with 439 gold medals in 36 sports up for grabs.
China leads the standings with 123 golds and 262 medals. South Korea is second with 54 golds among its 167 medals and Japan ranks third with 37 golds and 146 total medals.
The 17th Asian Games in Incheon are underway in South Korea from September 19 to October 1, 2014. Iran’s caravan consists of 282 athletes of which 224 are men and 58 are women.
