Artists Forum Mounts Persian Passion Play

TEHRAN (IFILM)- Iranian Artists Forum hosts art troupe performing Tazieh (Persian passion play) in the courtyard of the Tehran-based building.
The shows by the artists from Kahrobaye Tazieh Center began on Tuesday and are set to run for ten nights.
The group directed by Majid Khosroabadi is currently staging stories from the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions against the oppressive Umayyad dynasty in 680 AD.
Tazieh has been inscribed on the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Staging such dramatic plays is quite common in Iran during the Islamic lunar month of Muharram in which the martyrdom anniversary of the third Shia Imam is commemorated across the country.
