Iran's Saffron Exports Surge 25%
TEHRAN (Dispatches) - Iran's saffron exports registered a 25.1-percent growth in value during March 21 to July 22, the first four months of the 2018 fiscal year, Iran’s local media reported Sunday.
Meanwhile, the saffron exports to a total of 49 countries exceeded 70.8 tons during the period, hitting nearly $98.35 million.
The top export destination for Iranian saffron was the United Arab Emirates with $31.64 million, followed by China with $20 million, Spain with $16.54 million, Afghanistan with $9.74 million, and Vietnam with $8.8 million.
About 236 tons of saffron worth more than $325 million were exported from Iran during the 2017 fiscal year ending March 20, surging 56 percent in value from a year ago.
