Ten IRGC Members Martyred in Terrorist Attack

TEHRAN (Dispatches) – Foreign-backed terrorists martyred 10 members of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) in an attack on a post on the Iraqi border on Saturday, Tasnim news agency reported Saturday.
The agency quoted an IRGC statement as saying that several of the attacking terrorists were also killed in the fighting which entailed in an explosion at a munitions depot.
The terrorist PJAK group took responsibility for the overnight attack Friday in the Dari village of the Marivan area.
Provincial security official Hussein Khosheqbal told state television that the Basij and IRGC forces were in hot pursuit of the attackers.
A statement issued by Hamza Sayyid al-Shohada Headquarters said a number of terrorists were killed and several others fled with injuries.
"Terrorist and counter-revolutionary groups and their supporters who lack any base among the Iranian nation, especially the wise and revolutionary people of Kordestan, should anticipate the harsh and deadly retaliation of the brave and devoted warriors of Islam for this crime," it added.
PJAK terrorists who have links to Turkey's militant Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) operates in the border area, along with other armed terrorists based in northern Iraq.
Earlier this month, the IRGC said its forces had killed three terrorists in a security operation near the border with Iraq, and nine terrorists were reported killed by the IRGC last month further north on the border.
There is little coordination between Iranian and Iraqi forces over security of the porous border that has also been used by Daesh to enter Iran.
Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi said on Tuesday that security forces in southwest Iran arrested four suspected Daesh operatives who were planning attacks.
In June 2017, Daesh terrorists carried out coordinated attacks at the parliament building in Tehran and the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini south of the capital, martyring 17 people.
