Zionist Warplane Strikes Gaza, Palestinians Hit Back

GAZA STRIP (Dispatches) – Zionist aircraft struck the Gaza Strip and Palestinians launched dozens of retaliatory mortar bombs and rockets from the enclave into the occupied territories on Saturday, the Israeli military said.
There were no reports of serious casualties on either side of the border in the exchange of fire which followed a familiar pattern of retaliatory attacks by the Israeli military and Gaza’s armed groups.
Gaza fighters often vacate potential target sites during flare-ups and Israelis who live in villages and towns near the Gaza fence have reinforced rooms in their homes and rocket sirens that alert of an incoming attack.
Meanwhile, at least three Palestinians sustained injuries when the Zionist regime’s military carried out an airstrike against an area on the border between Egypt's troubled Sinai Peninsula and the besieged Gaza Strip.
Palestinian sources said the aerial attack targeted a position of Hamas resistance movement in the border town of Rafah on Saturday afternoon, leaving two Palestinians injured, Arabic-language Ma’an news agency reported.
The sources added that the injured were transported to Abu Yousef al-Najjar Hospital in Rafah to receive medical treatment.
The Zionist regime’s military aircraft also fired three missiles at the Salahuddin military site in the central Gaza Strip, before pounding an open area near Queen roundabout east of Gaza City.
Additionally, Israeli aerial attacks targeted a Hamas site in the city of Beit Lahia, located about five kilometers north of Gaza City. There were no immediate reports of casualties or the extent of damage caused.
Local sources also told Ma'an that explosions were heard in various areas of the Gaza Strip as Israeli unmanned aerial vehicles flew overhead.
The Israeli military alleged in a statement that the aerial bombardment was in retaliation for a barrage of at least 17 rockets or mortars launched by Hamas into the occupied Palestinian territories.
The Israeli military frequently bombs the Gaza Strip, with civilians being the main target of such attacks.
In early July 2014, the regime waged a war on the Gaza Strip. The 50-day military aggression, which ended on August 26, 2014, killed nearly 2,200 Palestinians, including 577 children. Over 11,100 others – including 3,374 children, 2,088 women and 410 elderly people – were also wounded in the war.
The Gaza Strip has been under an Israeli siege since June 2007. The blockade has caused a decline in the standards of living as well as unprecedented levels of unemployment and unrelenting poverty.
