Iranian Freestylers Top-Ranked In Asian Cadet Bouts

Tehran (Press TV) - The Iran men’s national cadet freestyle wrestling team has collected eight medals, including six gold ones, at the Asian Cadet Championships in Uzbekistan, and been crowned as the champion of the continental sports event.
On the final day of the competitions in the Uzbek capital city of Tashkent, Rahman Amouzad Khalili downed his Kazakh rival Sultan Kurmanaliyev 10-0 by technical fall in the final bout of the 45-kilogram weight class, and collected the first gold medal of the day for the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Ali Abdollahi also adeptly employed a mix of primal hand-to-hand combat and complex tactics, and gave Iran its second gold medal with an emphatic 12-2 win over Yunus Gafurov of Kazakhstan in the 92-kilogram weight section.
Amirhossein Zare’ routed Indian wrestler Kumar Anirudh in the 110-kilogram final, and scooped the third gold for Iran.
Later in the day, Seyyed Erfan Jafarian defeated Saudi rival Faisal al-Dossary to claim a bronze medal in the 51-kilogram weight category.
The results came a day after Mohammad Karimi Seifabad, Mohammad Nokhodilarimi and Mohammadreza Ghiyasi snatched three gold medals in the 65-kilogram, 71-kilogram and 80-kilogram divisions respectively.
Amirhossein Gholam Reza Khounsari defeated Tajik opponent Davlatali Sharipov 4-2 in the third-place contest.
The Iranian freestyle wrestlers won the top honor with 196 points. Athletes from Kazakhstan notched 171 points to rank second, and were followed by Uzbeks who racked up 146 points.
The Asian Cadet Championships started on May 10, and concluded on May 13, 2018.
