FAO to Cooperate in Iran’s Agricultural Projects



ARDEBIL (Dispatches) –The caretaker of FAO Representative Office in Tehran Rao Matta has said that FAO experts will participate implementing the project of downstream lands of Khodaafarian Dam, Ardebil province.
Inspecting trend of implementation of the project, Matta said that FAO lends support to the projects helping in principled and correct use of the two vital elements of water and soil.

He further noted that valuable works on optimal use of agricultural water and installing modern irrigation systems and transforming dry farming lands into water farming lands have been conducted in northern Ardebil province.

That’s a great honor for the Agriculture Jihad Ministry to emerge successfully in the field of optimal management of agricultural water consumption, he said, noting that implementing the project of downstream lands of Khodaafarian dam will help promote agricultural production and optimize use of water resources in the region.

"Iranian experts are acting very successfully in such projects and we are happy that FAO experts will share their valuable experience in optimal use of water with those involved in the huge project,” he said.

Meanwhile, director of FAO’s water and soil affairs said that the project of downstream lands of Khodaafarian dam is one of the most specialized and most equipped projects in the fields of water and soil.
