‘Retouch’, ‘Gaze’ Awarded in Polish Film Festival


ZUBEROFFKA (Dispatches) – Two Iranian short films ‘Retouch’ by Kaveh Mazaheri and ‘Gaze’ by Farnoush Samadi received awards at Zuberoffka International Short Film Festival in Poland.
Kaveh Mazaheri’s ‘Retouch’ won the best film prize (Special mention prize in international competition WHOLE WIDE WORLD), and Farnoush Samadi’s short film received Zuberoffka DYPLOM.
The jury’s final statement on ‘Retouch’ reads "an original story in an efficient short film about conscience and retouching reality,” according to the official website of the festival.
‘Retouch’ tells the tragic story of a young woman whose husband dies before her eyes. Farnoush Samadi’s second short film is about a woman who has witnessed a crime on the bus on her way back home. The film tells her struggle over whether to reveal the crime or keep it a secret. It is co-written by Samadi and Ali Asgari.
The 12th edition of Zuberoffka International Short Film Festival was held on December 6-10, 2017.
Festival ZUBROFFKA is an open event not restricted by anything, respecting diversity and variety so characteristic for the region of Podlasie, it’s a place bringing together artists open to the world and people who have a sense of humour, who value nature and its products. The festival tries to provide a platform for exchanging ideas and thoughts, which will enable creative meetings of artists from eastern and western countries.
