Tehran’s Goodwill Offer Places Riyadh on Horns of Dilemma

By: Kayhan Int’l Staff Writer

If Saudi Arabia ends its "misguided friendship” with the Zionist entity – the archenemy of Muslims – and ends its "inhuman bombardment” of the Muslim country of Yemen, it could have good relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
This is what President Hojjat al-Islam Dr. Hassan Rouhani said in the Majlis on Sunday, December 10, in a televised speech while presenting to Speaker Dr. Ali Larijani the coming Iranian fiscal year’s budget.
Any takers in Riyadh for this excellent goodwill proposal from Tehran for the sake of Islamic Unity!
No response so far.
Iranian governmental circles, known for their proverbial patience and prudence on policies of state, are not in a hurry for receiving any immediate positive gesture from across the southern shores of the Persian Gulf.
Perhaps the Saudis need time to think over. Maybe their attention is focused entirely on the provocative US decision to shift its embassy to the occupied Islamic holy city of Bayt al-Moqaddas, which their ally President Donald Trump – the "greatest friend of Muslims” in the words of Saudi Heir Apparent Mohamed bin Salman (MBS) – designated as capital of Israel.
For the media in Iran, however, which has the right to air its views, President Rouhani’s rational offer has seemingly placed Riyadh on the horns of a dilemma.
Should the feelers of friendship from Tehran be ignored as if nothing has been heard?
Should it be answered by the usual stereotyped accusations of Iran’s meddling in Arab affairs and alleged support for terrorism?
Should it be accepted by ending the senseless massacre of the poor Yemenis and divorce with Israel in the midst of honeymoon?
All three options are not without consequences, according to the mindset of the rulers in Riyadh.
To remain deaf and mute means they are not masters of their own destiny but mere puppets of the powers behind in London and Washington, who hold the strings.
To harp on the trash that MBS and Foreign Minister Adel Jubeir routinely and religiously dish out against Iran, means self-confession of their sedition, since the whole world knows Daesh, al-Qa’eda, Boko Haram and other terrorist outfits to be result of Saudi Arabia’s amorous affair with the US and the Zionist entity, while it was Iran’s support for the governments of Syria and Iraq as well as the popular forces such as Lebanon’s Hezbollah, Iraq’s Hashd ash-Sha’bi, and Syria’s Shabiha that weeded out the Takfiris and saved the region from catastrophe.
To end the genocide in Yemen and announce disruption of the covert ties with Israel, is not only tantamount to eating the humble pie and admitting treason against the Ummah, but might lead to regime change in Riyadh.
Leaving the Saudis to figure their response, while the effigies of MBS and King Salman, burn, along with the flags of their bosom pals – the Americans and the Zionists – in the streets of Gaza, Jordan, Lebanon and other lands for betraying the cause of Palestine and Islam’s First Qibla, let us focus on President Rouhani’s words of good neighbourliness, following the hint given last Wednesday for Islamic Unity by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, to a gathering of Muslim scholars from 90 countries on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Messenger of Mercy, Prophet Mohammad (SAWA).
The President said without mincing words: "We do not see any barriers for improving our relations with them (Saudis). We are Muslim and Iranian, and unlike the US that has broken its promises in the nuclear deal, when we sign an agreement we remain loyal to it and keep our promises.”
What a magnanimous approach by the Islamic Republic of Iran!
Hopefully, there are saner minds in Saudi Arabia, willing to summon the courage and reciprocate in like manner for the sake of peace and security of the region and in the interests of the Islamic Ummah at this crucial juncture when Trump has trumped-up the ‘friendly’ heads of Arab states by fully exposing his barely hidden Zionist colours.
The question is: Would they be allowed to grab the hand of fraternity stretched by the Chief Executive of Iran, especially when the Saudi Clan is deeply divided from within, amidst arrest, torture and blackmail of cousins and senior officials in the ongoing power struggle?
The answer is anybody’s guess
Meanwhile, as Iranian civilian and military officials have made it clear: Palestine has been and will remain our cause. The US and the Zionist entity will not succeed in their conspiracy. Insha Allah, the Islamic Ummah will coordinate effort to soon liberate Bayt al-Moqaddas.
