TEHRAN (Dispatches) - The final stage of 2017 Judo Grand Prix came to an end in the Netherlands with the Iranian outfit collecting two bronze medals.
Iranian athleteSaeid Molaei defeated Frank de Wit, a representative from the host nation, in his last under 81-kilogram weight class contest and scooped a bronze medal.
And also, other Iranian judoka Javad Mahjoub displayed remarkable athletic skills at The Hague Grand Prix 2017, and collected a bronze medal at the prestigious sporting event.
Mahjoub prevailed over a representative from Germany in his first over 100-kilogram weight class contest, and progressed to the semi-final round.
He lost to Dutch contestant Roy Meyer in the next bout, and was relegated to the repechage round, where overwhelmed Benjamin Harmegnies from Belgium and earned a place in the bronze medal contest.
He downed Austrian competitor Daniel Allerstorfer, and finished third.
The Hague Grand Prix 2017 opened in the Netherlands on November 17 and concluded on November 19.
The tournament brought together dozens of male and female judokas from various world countries, including Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, the Netherlands, Portugal, Poland, Qatar, Russia, Spain, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates.
