U.S. Curbs Fundraising for Iran Quake Victims

KERMANSHAH (Dispatches) – Director general of Iran’s Ashrafi Esfahani International Airport said Friday that Iran had received no foreign relief aid yet for those hit by a power earthquake in Kermanshah.
Mojtaba Bayati especially rejected reports that France had aid. On Thursday, the U.S. Treasury Department blocked online donations made by Iranian expatriates to help the survivors of the quake. Tohid Najafi, a medical professional based in Detroit, said the Treasury blocked the Facebook page he had set up to raise money for the families of the victims and the survivors of the 7.3-magnitude quake.
