US President Barack Obama says Washington has no strategy yet for the war on ISIL, the self-styled Islamic Caliphate of Iraq and the Levant. There are also claims on the Capitol Hill that he isn’t taking the situation seriously enough.

Perhaps this seems to be a sign of desperation related to the lack of any strategy for victory, with the US administration hoping, unreasonably, that some other ally brought into the conflict might find the magic formula to transform this from another losing war into a victory.

Be that as it may, we know it just too well that official Washington does indeed have several common objectives with the duly vetted/approved beheading dogs of ISIL.

How else to explain that in line with the US, EU, Israeli, Arab policy, ISIL’s strategy is divide and rule, balkanization of Iraq and Syria, making the world forget about the Palestinian predicament, and sustain the cycle of death and destruction on which the American military-industrial complex feasts!

That clearly explains why the mighty American-Israeli satellite maze could not identify the long convoy of ISIL militants crossing the desert towards their summer conquests in Iraq. That also explains why a Briton beheading an American (the bright side of the conflict) could quickly help to justify and sanction the return of Iraq bombing with more strikes, more drones, more boots on the ground, and now a Syria extension.

As for the Arab monarchies, they are not sitting idle either. The mom and dad of ISIL are now arguing that their highly motivated, battle hardened and well-equipped offspring is in fact a revival of "pure Wahhabism” that has nothing to do with them whatsoever!

This then leads one to question America’s silence over ISIL’s advance in both Syria and the Sunni region of Iraq, yet its immediate and strong reaction to potential advances on the Kurdish areas as well as Baghdad – an important point that Obama is so "honest” to admit!

It is clear that there is something much deeper at play; that the US is not going to close the "terrorist highway” any time soon. Clearly, the prodigal son’s murderous actions and deeds are fully in line with the American objectives for more imperial adventurism in an indispensible region holding all that "American oil”.

Yet given the great miscalculation in Washington and London, for which Iraqis, Syrians and Afghans are now paying a heavy price, it is still evident that another US military catastrophe (in any shape and form or under any pretext) is just there for the taking.
