Iran is marking the 37th anniversary of the Holy Defence that started on 22nd September 1980 when the newly-founded Islamic Republic was suddenly invaded by land, sea and air by the forces of Saddam of the repressive Ba’th minority regime of Baghdad, on the orders of the Great Satan the US, which had lost all hope of re-imposing its hegemony on Iran, after the failure of its various plots including Operation Eagle Claw that was struck by Divine Wrath in the desert of Tabas.
Today 38 years later, although Saddam’s 8-year war miserably failed thanks to the epic resistance of Iranians, and he, along with his repressive regime, vanished into oblivion as is evident by the emergence of a popular brotherly government in Iraq, the Islamic Republic of Iran continues to be the target of plots of the devils in Washington.
The US can never be trusted, and until this most evil regime in history ceases to exist, it will remain a sworn enemy of not just Iran but all free and independent countries of the world.
This is evident by the raving and ranting of the idiotic Donald Trump. He is indeed mistaken if he thinks that his threats will make Iran forgo its legitimate right of self-defence by upgrading its ballistic missile systems and collaborating in fraternal manner with the governments and peoples of regional states, in order to save them from the cannibalistic takfiri and other terrorists, the Americans, the Zionists and the Saudi Wahhabis have created, in yet another vain bid to destabilize the Islamic Republic of Iran and its allies.
President Hassan Rouhani made it clear in his address at the UN General Assembly that on no account will the Islamic Republic yield to the illegal and illogical demands of its archenemy, and will continue to upgrade its deterrent power. He told the world that it was the ingenuity of Iranian experts that made the country self-sufficient in defence and thus thwarted the designs of Saddam and his backers to dismember Iran.
On Friday also on the anniversary of 8-year US-imposed war, while reviewing the march past of the armed forces and the remarkable weapons they possess, the President made it clear:
"We will increase our military power as a deterrent. We will strengthen our missile capabilities. We will not seek anyone’s permission to defend our land. Not only will we fortify our missiles, but our ground, navy and air forces will always be supported by the people.”
During Friday’s parade the military forces displayed the new missile "Khoramshahr”, which has a range of more than 2,000 kilometers. There are many other sophisticated weapons in Iran’s army in order to discourage any would-be aggressor.
All strata of the Iranian society support with one voice the national resolve to resist the US and refurbish the defences of the country, as well as reinforcing ties with the people and government of the region, in order to safeguard the stability of Iran and its neighbours from the terrorists and their godfathers, the American clients in the region.
In view of these facts, it is important to safeguard the values of Holy Defence, especially its spiritual aspects, so as to inculcate the young generation with the immortal heritage of their fathers.
The coinciding of the Holy Defence Week with the start of the mourning month of Muharram gives the message to Iranians and the world that it was the firm belief of the Iranian combatants in the mission of Imam Husain (AS), the Immortal Martyr of Karbala, that saved the people and the Islamic system of government from Saddam and his masters.
We all remember how the Iranian combatants while battling the cowardly Ba’thists, used to recite the Ziyara-e Ashura and other supplications, which inspired the defenders to new heights and mesmerized the enemies.
Today these values and the flags proclaiming "Ya Husain” are not confined to Iran but have spread in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and other places where the struggle goes on between truth and falsehood, much to the bewilderment of the US and its devilish hordes in the region.
