Iran Attends Int’l Folklore Festival in Greece




ATHENS (IRNA) – The 55th Lefkas International Folklore Festival was launched on Tuesday in Greece, with Iran having stands and holding various art and cultural programs.
"Today’s world is suffering from violence and prejudice, with extremist groups challenging global security and peace,” Spiros Arvanitis, head of Cultural Center of the Greek island Lefkas, also known as Lefkadas, said stressing the necessity of familiarity among different peoples with various cultures.
He also described the goal of the international festival as contributing to the peace and security for all the people in the world, highlighting the art’s role in realizing the goal.
"Iranian people have always been on the path of global and regional peace,” Iran’s cultural attaché in Greece Ali Mohammd Helmi, attending the opening ceremony of the 55th Lefkas International Folklore Festival said in a speech.
Iran and the religion of Islam are great promoters of a peaceful life for all the human beings, especially in the region, he added.
China, Vietnam, Peru, France, Georgia, Ireland, South Africa, and Brazil are among the countries participating in the international event.
Iran is holding an exhibition of handicrafts, paintings, miniature, calligraphy, local costumes, and books in the festival.
