TEHRAN (Dispatches) -- The brother of President Hassan Rouhani has been detained over financial matters, the Tasnim news agency quoted Judiciary spokesman Gholamhussein Mohseni Ejehi as saying on Sunday.
Hussein Fereidoun has been detained and could be released on bail, he said.
Fereidoun is the brother and a top aide to President Rouhani, who changed his surname from Fereidoun years ago.
Ejehi also reported that an individual has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for "infiltrating” the country and gathering information. He did not identify the suspect.
"This person, who was gathering information and was directly guided by America, was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but the sentence can be appealed," the Judiciary spokesman said.
