Diplomat: 15,000 Afghan University Students Studying in Iran

QAZVIN (IRNA) -- Afghanistan's Assistant Ambassador in Iran Ahmad Aaron Najmipour on Wednesday announced that 15,000 Afghan students are studying in Iran's universities.
'The grounds to dispatch 500 more students for higher education purposes into the Iranian universities have been prepared and it is to take place in the near future,' Najmipour made the remarks in a ceremony at Imam Khomeini International University in Qazvin.
He pointed to cultural commonalties between Iran and Afghanistan, and added that these huge cultural capacities are not being used appropriately.
The Afghan diplomat called students as the best ambassadors between the two countries for the expansion and development of relations, and said that several incumbent cabinet ministers and senior officials of Afghanistan have been educated in the Iranian universities.
He pointed to the chaotic situation in Afghanistan over past years, and said that Afghanistan had been under pressures by unfair wars imposed against 'us without our interference, which caused a big lag in Afghanistan, including in academic sector'.
He requested Iran to support training students program in specialized majors for Afghan students.
