More Iranian Movies Need to Go On Screen in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD (IRNA) – Chairperson of Pakistan’s Senate Committee on Information Broadcasting and National Heritage says more Iranian movies, which are very close to Pakistani culture, should go on screen in country’s cinemas.
Senator Kamil Ali Agha said that quality of Iranian movies is being appreciated all around the world and Pakistani cinema industry must show Iranian movies here.

Last month cinema owners in Pakistan had decided not to screen any Indian movie until tensions between the two countries end. They took the decision after the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) banned all Pakistani artists from working in film projects in India.

Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) has also approved a complete ban on airing of Indian content in Pakistan from October 21 and radio and television stations which violate the ban will have their licenses suspended without a prior show cause notice.

Kamil Ali Agha, expressing his views, said that Iranian movies have already been played on Pakistani TV channels and are welcomed by the audience in Pakistan. "Iran is our fiend so their movies must be given space in Pakistani cinema industry,” he said.

He said that movie is a very good medium to introduce culture of one country into another country. "If we show Iranian movies in Pakistan, the people here would get more close to the Iranian culture,” viewed the Senator.

He said that Pakistani cinema owners should screen movies with high values to their audience and the Iranian movies are a good choice in this regards.
