President Upbeat About Nuclear Deal

TEHRAN (Press TV) -- President Hassan Rouhani said here on Tuesday Iran is optimistic that negotiations with the P5+1 group aimed at reaching a comprehensive deal on Tehran’s nuclear energy program will come to fruition.
"Dialogue is the only way ahead of us, and we are hopeful about the success of the talks,” Rouhani said in a meeting with newly-appointed Iceland’s accredited Ambassador to Tehran Gonar Pulsen.
The president said Iran is ready for cooperation within the framework of international regulations, adding the Iranian nation expects to enjoy its inalienable right to use nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.
Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council – the U.S., France, Britain, Russia and China – plus Germany agreed on the extension of talks until November 24 with a view to achieving a permanent deal that would end the decade-old dispute over Iran’s nuclear energy program.
Rouhani stressed the importance of cooperation among the countries to sort out key regional and global problems, expressing Iran’s determination to play an active role in that regard.
"Today, the human community is currently faced with major scourges such as terrorism. So, it is necessary that all countries cooperate and participate in order to eradicate it,” the president stated.
The Iceland’s envoy, who submitted his credentials to President Rouhani, expressed hope that nuclear talks between Iran and the P5+1 would reach the desired outcome.
He said his country seeks to improve relations with Tehran in mutual and international fields.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Muhammad Javad Zarif said the P5+1 group has no "everlasting chance” to reach a final agreement with Iran over its nuclear energy program.
"In the talks, the softness or toughness of the negotiating side is not an issue; rather, it should be understood that as long as no agreement is reached, all the sides will strive to achieve their objectives,” Zarif said after a closed-door session of the Majlis focusing on the last round of nuclear talks between Iran and the six world powers in Vienna.
The right to enrich uranium, the Arak heavy water reactor and sanctions against Tehran are among the bones of contention between Iran and the P5+1, said the top diplomat.
"Our position on the number of centrifuges is clear and the opposite side’s insistence will have no bearing on the issue,” the minister pointed out.
Zarif said the opposite side knows that a final agreement with Iran is the only solution to the nuclear issue, adding the West has come to realize that pressures have no impact on the Iranian nation.
Zarif said if western powers apply an approach based on the Geneva deal and are assured of the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear activities, the issue will be settled.
