Tehran Symphony Orchestra Wins Accolade in Shanghai
TEHRAN (MNA) – The late Wednesday performance of Iranian musicians in Chinese city of Shanghai was highly appreciated by the local media and authorities.
The Tehran Symphony Orchestra performed at Shanghai Spring International Music Festival late on Wednesday and the performance which was attended by many Iranians and Chinese was highly admired by the audience.
The TSO performed a two-part program under two conductors, Farhad Fakhreddini and Nasir Heydarian. The first part which included a repertory of Persian music pieces was conducted by Farhad Fakhreddini. ‘Avecina,’ ‘Shourafarin,’ ‘Tarabangiz,’ ‘Chaharmezrab e Chahrgah for violin and orchestra,’ ‘Reng e Bayat e Shiraz,’ ‘Paykouban,’ and ‘On Youth for violin and orchestra,’ were the major pieces of the first part with Arsalan Kamkar, and Habib Jadiri playing the solo violin.
The second part, under the baton of Nasir Heydarian, was dedicated to classic music and the four movements of Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95, was performed.
Iranian consulate general and cultural attaché in Shanghai, along with Chinese media and officials were among the attendants in the hall of the Oriental Art Center of Shanghai.
The group left Tehran for Shanghai on Monday to have a rehearsal on Tuesday before the final performance at Shanghai Spring International Music Festival on Wednesday. The Iranian musical delegation of 65 players and two conductors are scheduled to flight back to Tehran on Thursday.
Founded in 1933, the Tehran Symphony Orchestra was originally founded as the Municipality Symphony Orchestra by Gholamhossein Minbashian, but it was remodernized by Parviz Mahmoud in 1946 and since then has been under the baton of famous conductors such as Rubik (Ruben) Gregorian, Morteza Hannaneh, Haymo Taeuber, Heshmat Sanjari, Farhad Meshkat and a host of other renowned Iranian maestros.
After maestro Ali Rahbari announced his formal resignation from conducting and managing the Tehran Symphony Orchestra, there were rumors about the fate of scheduled staging of the orchestra at the closing ceremony of Shanghai Spring International Music Festival, but Roudaki Foundation appointed Fakhreddini and Heydarian as the new conductors of the TSO to not cancel the scheduled appearance in Shanghai.
