A Positive Development for All

By: Kayhan Int’l Staff Writer The world wants a way out of the current U.S.-made violence and terrorism, and the latest evidence could be this week’s general elections in Canada, in which people voted out the extremist pro-Israel government of Stephen Harper.
The desperate administration of U.S. President Barack Obama has been quick to react, saying it hopes the new Canadian government will continue to support the fight against ISIL militants in Iraq and Syria. Much to Obama’s chagrin, it’s something that Canadian Prime Minister-elect Justin Trudeau says won’t happen again. As part of his election campaign promises, Trudeau has pledged to remove Canada's fighter jets from the U.S.-led bombing campaign in Syria and Iraq. He says he will do so in no time.
This historic change in Canada’s foreign policy reminds us of what Iran’s Supreme Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei once correctly observed as the end of Western hegemony in political/economic/social spheres and a new world order in making.
According to Ayatollah Khamenei, "Contemporary developments clearly suggest that Western hegemony is in decline, mainly in the spheres of theory/vision and military/politics. Equipped with beautiful words such as freedom, democracy and human rights, the West managed to impose its phony vision on the rest of the world for 70 years. But that hegemony is now in decline.”
As it turned out in Canada – and soon elsewhere in Europe - radical changes are taking place in the world order and at least one aspect deserves special attention: The reliance on violence, terrorism, extremism, sectarianism and war to slow down and delay the inevitable - because the greater the sense and fear of imperial decay and decline, the greater the colonial hubris and arrogance of power.
And when that was not enough, a fake "War on Terror” was launched to convince the gullible American/European public of the need of continued massive military spending and surveillance. The bright side of it all is that the U.S. lost this war of deception too. Any doubters should ask Russia whose warplanes are now busy targeting all terrorist networks in Syria with some effective results.
What’s more, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Russian President Vladimir Putin have just held talks in Moscow. According to Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov, on Tuesday, October 20, the two leaders discussed the situation in Syria.
So the message is this: U.S.-led airstrikes have failed to stabilize the Middle East order and the situation could reproduce the chaos of Libya, turning Syria into a haven for terrorist operations, even reaching the Russian border. As a consequence, Iran and Russia have decided to intervene.
The new alliance seeks to defeat the terrorist networks and achieve certain political conditions that are fully understood by all sides. They will then present an opportunity for a political settlement.
To be sure, America’s bluff in "war on Terror” is now being called. Fed up with the bullying of American foreign and economic policy, Russia, China and Iran are realizing that they don’t have to take it anymore. And they are not taking it anymore – at least in Syria.
There is no denying that the U.S.-led era of overseas "boots on the ground” and "regime change” adventures are beginning to draw to a close, and the good news is that no one in his right mind is ever going to miss it. As Ayatollah Khamenei holds, "It’s a positive development.”
