Iranian President Inaugurates 'WikiShia' Encyclopedia Website
TEHRAN (FNA) - Iran on Sunday inaugurated an online encyclopedia named 'WikiShia' in a ceremony participated by President Hassan Rouhani.
The encyclopedia was inaugurated on the sidelines of a religious congress on Imam Hassan (AS), grandson of Islam's Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and Shia Islam's second Imam, in Tehran on Sunday.
WikiShia provides the visitors and readers with information about Shias' twelve Imams and their families as well as the political, social and cultural aspects of their lives.
Shia means "followers", "faction" or "party" of Prophet Mohammad's son-in-law and cousin Ali (AS), whom the Shias believe to be the Prophet's successor in religious leadership and the Caliphate.
Shia Islam is based on the holy Quran and the message of the Islamic Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) attested in hadith recorded by the Shia, and certain books, including Nahj al-Balaqa.
