Iranian Artists Join World Crafts Council

TEHRAN (MNA) – Following the results of talks between Iran’s handicrafts organization and members of WCC-Asia Pacific Region, the path was laid for Iranian artists and crafts unions to join the Council.

In the wake of WCC-West Asia regional meeting in Tehran, Iran’s handicrafts organization and president of WCC-Asia Pacific Region held many consultations in order to facilitate the joining of Iranian handicraft artists to the Word Crafts Council.
Deputy head of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHTO) Bahman Namvar said one of the reasons for joining international organizations such as World Crafts Council is to increase the country’s bargaining power in the field of crafts and create the opportunity for introducing Iranian artists to the world.
Based on the talks during the WCC-West Asia regional meeting, 9 Iranian artists comprising 7 individuals and 2 associate members of NGOs managed to be officially registered as members of World Crafts Council.
WCC-West Asia regional meeting was held in Tehran on June 12, 2015 which paved the way for WCC-West Asia’s joint activities to develop the handicrafts in the countries of this region.
