Enemy Plots Thwarted Almost Everyday

TEHRAN (Dispatches) – Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi said on Friday Iran’s security forces have total intelligence dominance over those hostile elements who seek to carry out terrorist activities in Iranian territory and successfully thwart planned terrorist plots.

The minister, speaking before the sermons at Tehran Friday Prayers, said Iran is in total intelligence command of enemy activities, citing a number of operations by intelligence forces successfully thwarting planned bomb attacks or other attempted acts of sabotage.
"Foreign intelligence services, mainly those of the U.S. and Israel, as well as some regional intelligence services do everything they can to challenge Iran’s exemplary security so that the sound of some explosion is also heard, just as the sound of blasts and the smell of gunpowder and the color of blood upset all the people in our neighboring countries,” Alavi said.
However, he said, despite all the assistance that terrorist groups receive from enemy intelligence services, they have not been successful so far.
"This is no coincidence; and convergence and cooperation and the pooling of resources by intelligence, military and security forces of the Islamic Republic as well as judicial organizations led to the foiling of enemy plots,” the intelligence minister said.
Alavi specifically referred to a number of terrorist plots foiled by Iranian intelligence forces, including a planned bombing plot in city of Mashhad, a poisoning plot in Tehran and a bombing plot in Qom.
Not a single day goes by without discovering and foiling a conspiracy by Iranian security forces, he said.
The comments come as the Takfiri ISIL terrorist group is actively operating in neighboring Iraq and Syria.
Iran’s defense minister said on Thursday ISIL does not have the capability to pose a threat to the borders of the Islamic Republic.
"The ISIL terrorist group does not possess the capability and capacity to pose a threat to the Iranian borders, and we do not regard the terrorist group as a threat to us,” Brigadier General Hussein Dehqan said.
"The power of Iranian security and military forces is definitely at such a level that it can neutralize every move by the terrorist group before it starts,” the Iranian defense minister stated, adding that the "security forces of Iran monitor every move by the ISIL terrorist group".
"Certainly, the military and security forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran will give a crushing response to any act threatening the country’s security,” he added.
Meanwhile, Iran and Russia called for stronger defense relations, demanding the quick implementation of the technical and security agreements already clinched between Tehran and Moscow.
During a telephone conversation between Dehqan and his Russian counterpart Sergey Shoigu, the two officials explored avenues for further enhancement of Russo-Iran defense ties, and exchanged viewpoints on the latest regional and international developments.
They also emphasized the need for regional cooperation in order to stave off war, violence, terrorism and extremism.
On Wednesday, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Moscow will provide Russian-built S-00 surface-to-air missile (SAM) defense systems to Tehran upon "the adaptation" of the 2007 agreement to the current situation.
Ryabkov said, "It is because of the adaptation of that agreement to the new reality that some negotiating process is taking place.”
He noted that the delivery would be made following the settlement of a lawsuit lodged by Iran with an arbitration court over Moscow’s failure to deliver the systems as planned.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hussein Amir-Abdollahian recently termed as "successful" negotiations between Iranian and Russian officials over the delivery of the S-300 air defense systems to Iran.
